“You gonna leave that idea stuck in your head forever? That sucks,” says Lin-Manuel Miranda to BX students
Watch Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton, share his insights about creativity and writing with students at a Bronx high school. The segment includes this exchange of knowledge-dropping:
Student: “I know it took you six years to write Hamilton. But, I know we as teenagers if we are writing essays and are having trouble we are like ‘oh my God I just want to give up.’ Did you ever feel like that? Like you wanted to give up?”
Miranda: “All the time. All the time! And then you push through it. Like, you push through it because what’s the alternative? Your gonna leave that idea stuck in your head forever? That sucks. The alternative is you go through life and you had this great idea and nothing came of it because you got tired.”
