If School Music Instruments Can Play Metallica, There’s Hope for Public Education
You might not think much of classroom music instruments, but give them to the Roots and Metallica and watch what happens. There’s a metaphor in there for the purpose of public education. Schools need to give children the tools and space they need to engage in real-world learning experiences. Provide authentic creative space, as Lin-Manuel Miranda reminds us, and the result is the stuff of Sandman-haunted dreams.
