Some of My Favorite Websites for ELA and Literacy Teachers

An early career ELA teacher recently asked me what sites I go to for ELA and literacy resources.  I told her I’d post them so others could see as well. Here they are ! (And if I missed some, tell me on Twitter @tomliamlynch or on the Gradgrind’s FB page…)

• English Companion Ning | Created by Jim Burke as an accompaniment to his excellent book by a similar name, this website has tens of thousands of English teachers from around the world sharing knowledge and resources.
• Larry Ferlazzo’s | When anyone asks me who has good advice on teaching English language learners and students with special needs, this is the guy.
• Writers Who Care | This blog is maintained by my peeps in the Conference on English Education Commission on Writing Teacher Education. It is thoroughly up to date with the research and a treasure trove of resources and perspectives.
• WeTeachNYC | This is the official resource repository for the NYC Department of Education. There’s a ton here that has been vetted by their curriculum gurus. (I’m also proud to say I co-wrote the original grant to create WeTeachNYC and was honored to have helped design, develop, and implement it.)
