A Business Case for the Arts in Education
Courtesy of Jack Ma
When the founder and CEO of the Alibaba Group, Jack Ma, was asked about what education should look like, his answer was refreshingly humanistic and direct. In short, if a computer can do what you are asking students to do, you’re probably teaching them the wrong things. (That is something supporters of K-12 computer science education should consider when working with schools!) Complement it with this great talk by education philosopher Maxine Greene, and consider how Greene would have responded.
